Abstract

Grama Panchayats play an important role for empowerment of women through women participation in local self-government system. 73rd and 74th constitutional amendment helped women to get 33% reservation among elected representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions. The present study has been conducted in Mandya district of Karnataka state. To know the demographic profiles of respondents and to analyse the opinion of them towards women participation in GramaPanchayats were objectives of the study. Village citizens were target respondents. Simple random sampling method has been used to collect the primary data with help of structured interview schedule.
