Abstract
Empowerment means providing opportunity and enhancing the capability of individuals so that they can contribute in their individual lives as well as in society in an efficient way. In India, government is focusing on women empowerment by making them self-reliant through various programmes and schemes. Specifically rural women in India are considered as backbone of dairy sector.% women are engaged in dairy sector. They are contributing a lot in many ways like: milking of animals cleaning of milking utensils, cutting of fodder, taking care of payments, giving to milk sellers etc. GOI and state governments understands the crucial role of dairy sector in women empowerment by making them self reliant and economically better-off. In addition, the small and marginal farmers get cash by selling milk and milk products to purchase seeds, fertilizers etc. for crop production.
