Abstract
Social networking sites are becoming an increasingly common resource for college students, who use them to connect and maintain relationships. The main function of social networking sites is to consume and distribute personal content about the self. In many cases, divulging information about the self is essential in order to get the gains from these technological tools. This aspect of technology and services comes along with concern of user privacy. This study tries to find out if college students have privacy concerns about the information shared on social networking sites. A survey method was adopted for the study. Results indicate that female college students exhibit more privacy concerns as users of social networking sites than male college students.
